ABOUT VIJAY
Vijay Singh was born in Lautoka, Fiji, on February 22, 1963. He learned the game of golf from his father, an avid golfer. His legendary work ethic was formed at a young age and Vijay could be found on the range at the Nadi airport golf course most days after school and on the weekends.
He turned professional in 1982 and joined the PGA Tour in 1993. He has won 59 tournaments in his career, including 34 on the PGA Tour. He won the 1998 and 2004 PGA Championships and the 2000 Masters. In 2004, Vijay became the #1 golfer in the world, a position he would hold for a total of 32 weeks.
Besides winning three majors, Vijay’s career highlights include winning the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 1993, being inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2006, winning the money list 3 times in 2003, 2004 and 2008, winning Player of the Year honors from both the PGA Tour and the PGA of America in 2004, and winning the FedEx Cup in 2008. He currently holds the title for the most wins after the age of 40, a record previously held by Sam Snead and is second on the PGA Tour career money list.
At the age of 58, Vijay continues to play a full schedule on the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions, as well as continues to pursue his interest in golf course design.
